Issue Summary
I talk with many users who express frustration at the blog module because they want a single-user blog on their Drupal sites and when they turn on the Blog module it provides links to "authorname's blog" and the blog/uid paths which aren't very useful for a single-user blogging site. In general for single-user blogs it is more what people want to use a standard content type. This leads to the question whether the blog module should be renamed to "Multi-user blog" or "Multi blog" where the extra features added by the module are useful. As an alternative changing the text description would be a less-desirable but possible option.

Related documentation issue #175610: Specify that blog module is for multi-blog. Drupal 7 has changed the text around the blog module (on the module page and content type) to indicate it's for multi-user blogs but it seems like it may still cause confusion for users who turn on Blog without looking at it in more detail.

See also #792062: Blog links don't make sense for a single-user blog which would attempt to make the blog module a little more functional as a single-user blog, which can then automatically transition into a multi-user blog when new bloggers are added to the site.

Moving to Drupal 8.x.

I think changing the name of the blog module is a great idea, my first instinct was to call it something like 'blogger' but that of course brings up trademark / copyright infringement issues. But a name like 'blogger' would instantly send the right message to people about what the blog module actually does. I find that not everyone reads the description text for this module because they assume they know what 'blog' means. Also, it's easy to miss the 's' on the end of the last word, and 'multi-user blog' is equally unclear :)
#5
why not move it out of CORE. I suppose no one use it for personal blogging

#233301-125: Remove blog module from core removed blog from core and people are going to need to find it easily in contrib. Changing the name will confuse things unnecessarily.
