Hey,

I'm drupal developer just looking for expressions of interest in an Irish Drupal event.

What would you like to see - a casual meeting to discuss implimentations or a proper conference?

Would people travel to Dublin if it were a conference?

As I say just testin the water to see if there's an interest in building an off line community.

Someone emailed me a week or two ago about something similar. was that you?

Anyway. I hover between manchester and dublin, but you can definitely count me in.

+1 from me

edited: probably best to start out as just an informal get together and then see, over time, where it leads. dublin is very low-fare-friendly, despite the cost of a pint, so over time I guess a conference where ppl travelled would be practical.

This certainly sounds interesting - so I'll add a subscriber mark here :)

It was myself who contacted you.

Anyway - I'd be on for a meet up also - Dublin suits.

A good idea,

I'm Galway based myself, but would be prepared to go to Dublin, or elsewhere.

I'm just a Drupal user, but have developed a few different websites with it.
I'm not sure what I could bring to the Table, but I would love to be seated there anyway.

We could certainly see what we could do about pooling our efforts to improve location support for Ireland.

In any case, I owe Dublin_Drupaller a pint, for all the posts he has written that have helped me out for the last 6 months!

Alan

I'm another vote for Dublin, but this is something I might travel for. Definitely would lke to meet a few drupallers for a chat as I'm just starting out with my drupal sites.

Hi All,

Anybody here in Ireland heading to Drupalcon in Brussels.

I'll be booking my flight and Hostel this evening.
I'm doing this on the cheap!

Alan,

How about organising a briefing session in Galway shortly after you get back to let us all know what went on in Brussels? I'd be very interested in hearing how the event went. Could snatch a table at one of the hotels in town or even do it in Eyre Square (I'll bring the buckfast) if they ever get the promised wifi service up and running.

Maybe...
If there was enough interest, sure.
There was talk of a Galway meet-up before, but it never got off the ground.

[I'm sure I'll see you up in Dangan sometime, and give you all the details in a lap or two!]

Did someone mention alcohol? :)

OK Then
I made it back from Belguim in one piece.

The conference was nothing short of excellent.

There were 5 people there from Ireland; myself, 3 from a company in Dublin, and another guy who I heard speak, but didn't get a chance to say hello to.

Further to my promise earlier in this thread, if enough people are interested, I can a give a brief de-brief somewhere in Galway some evening.

So if you're keen, reply here, and if there are enough intesested I'll organise something.

As regards, a full Drupal Ireland meet up, I think it's fair to say Dublin would be best.

Myself and some of the guys from Dublin I talked to are very busy for now, so I'm not going to start a big push for that for a while yet.

good to hear there are more active Irish Drupal users out there...would it be an idea to setup an Ireland group across at groups.drupal.org (if it's not done already) so it's easier to keep in touch?

Speaking of get togethers, I was following the blogs/notes from webchick re: drupalcon...might be an idea to suggest next years drupalcon is in Ireland to Dries. Somewhere close to the guinness brewery, so people don't have too far to go!

"Drupalcon Dublin" has a sorta good ring to it.

Hey Gus,
Good to hear from you.

Tempted though I was to suggest Dublin, it looks like Barcelona has beaten us to it already for next year, though obviously its not set in stone.

Boris expressed a desire to have a Drupalcon in Spain, and eventually someone took the hint, as far as I understand.

We'll see how things pan out: it would certainly make it easier to attend were it in Dublin!

There is an Ireland group over at
http://groups.drupal.org/ireland
5 people registered, but no activity for now.

I will cross-post the 'Drupalcon debrief in Galway' suggestion there.

would be good if we could organise a meetup in Dublin as Galway is a bit out of the way (sorry alan)
5 users over there I bet if we canvas some of the records we could rise that number a bit.

gota see some of the video footage from Drupalcon but im sure it will start appearing soon.

Is that written in stone about Drupalcon in barcelona as Dub has pointed out it does have a certain ring to it "Drupalcon Dublin"

any ways

A Dublin meet-up is definitely on the cards.

I just know that the people I met in Brussels, and myself, are too busy for a little while to get something sorted.

That said, if someone could organise a venue etc, and all we had to do was show up.. maybe.

Alan,

I too have hit a busy spell. How about be put a date down to catch up on Brussels? If it works for others too then all the better. Do any of 18, 19 or 25 October suit you? We could meet in the Westwood (handy for me) or Harbour hotel (handy for town). I've a bit more flexibility if it's combined with a few laps of the racecourse/dangan of course.

Hi Vincent,

Not too much interest in a Galway meet up by all accounts [judging by this post and Groups.drupal.org].

I'll happily meet you up at the Westwood on the 18th, say 8.30 pm.

Alternatively, I'll be in Tuam on the 15th, for the Cross country, so I could bring you up to speed then.

If any other Galway Drupallers out there want something to happen on the 18th, speak now!

Alan,

Couldn't make XC at weekend. But I'm still on for 18th in Westwood. See you 8:30pm there.

Vincent

alanburke’s picture

Given the lack of response from others, Vincent, I'd be happier to bring you up to speed over a run.

Give me a call and I'll meet you up at Dangan some evening.
