Highlight module doesn't match non-english chars

Hi,

I'm using the Highlight module in a spanish Drupal website and it doesn't highlight any word including accented characters, nor the spanish 'ñ', nor any non-english latin alphabet character such as umlaut (ü), cedilla (ç),...

I've tagged the bug priority as 'normal' but believe for most of us it's closer to critical, as the module works 'just from times to times' for us (developing in non-english languages).
