Im new here, and new to Drupal. Or at least I want to be. For quite awhile now Ive been looking for a Dating/Social/Ecommerce website combination solution. My experiences with the so called 'Dating Software' scripts has been not so good. Mostly it is lack of support and the scripts not able to handle a sizable user load that has been the issue.

After much research Ive come to the conclusion Drupal is the best CMS for my needs... or is it? Thats why Im asking you. Is Drupal what I need? A short list of my requirements:

Profiles with user customizable CSS
Profile Browsing
Member search capabilities
Male/Female Browsing list generator
Points system with virtual currency system
shopping cart
Mail
Messaging
Chatting
Music uploading/playing
Video uploading/playing

Is Drupal ready for this? If not how much work will it take to make it into what I need?

Any info to help me to come to a decision would be very much appreciated.

user customizable css maybe an issue

profile browsing, core
member search, core

male/femal lists, use views.module

points system = userpoints.module
shopping cart = ubercart.module
mail = core
messaging = core w/ contact.module there are other modules in the repo.
chatting = there are some modules in the repo.

music / video sharing = CCK.module, filefiled.module and swftools.module

Depending on what your hardware is determines how your site will run. If on a shared host, you won't get far with many users regardless of script you run.

Couple of options;

- You could hand them as many themes as you want to choose from...
- http://drupal.org/project/user_profile_theme (needs D6 upgrade)
- http://drupal.org/project/theme_hues

Otherwhise you could look into having users set some cck values with http://drupal.org/project/advanced_profile

Cheers
