CVS edit link for Andrew Schulman
I want a CVS account in order to contribute and maintain a new module called Language bulk operations (languageops), for Drupal 6. The name is a little grandiose, because the module is quite simple: It just adds a "Set language" operation to the bulk node update form at Administer > Content Management > Content (admin/content/node). This operation may be useful, for example, for existing sites that are adding multilingual capability and need to assign the default language to existing content; or to multilingual sites where users haven't been consistently setting the language field correctly as they create content. Setting the language one node at a time in these cases may be infeasible for large sites.I've looked through the available language-related modules, and none of them implements this feature, as far as I can tell. I think the feature should really be available in core, but I believe that new features aren't being added to Drupal 6 any more, so I'm happy to provide it as a module.
I've already coded and tested the module. It works just fine. I'll upload the module code and a screenshot once this application is open.
I've written modules for private use before, and contributed patches to fix bugs. I'm looking forward to contributing a module to the community, that fills a small gap in Drupal's muultilanguage support. I contributed a patch to the role_delegation module that solved a very similar problem to this one; see http://drupal.org/node/598840.
Thanks,
Andrew.

avpadernoThe module is too simple to be accepted for a CVS account.

michaelfavia commentedWhile I agree the module is a simple one and our namespace is already quite crowded, there was a decent amount of interest in the module and he doesnt have much recourse for adding features to the D6 core modules other than making this available as a contrib module. I think it justifies an account and im willing to sponsor him, not the least of which because hes a fellow longhorn ;). -mf

dave reidAndrew: Thanks for taking a big leap into contributing code in the community! I'd really love to see you file a patch for Views Bulk Operations (as discussed on the ML) for this feature as well! That way people who have VBO installed wouldn't have install YAM (yet-another-module). :)

Andrew Schulman commentedSponsor? Something I need to do there? Or just an unofficial thing?

Andrew Schulman commented@Dave: Yes, I think this is a good idea. I'll follow up further with you on the dev list.
