How to mass set default quota for more than 3000 users?

Description
I drupalized a site, which have more than 3000 users. I need the function of user quota for some of my content types, but it would be too long to set the limits for every user by hand.
I think I should use the API mentioned at the project page. But unfortunatelly I don't know, how to do it.
Could someone help?
