Loading form via AJAX

Hi all,

I have been looking at ways to load a node edit form via AJAX, I have a simple requirement in which I have a edit link on node view and I wish to load the node edit form via AJAX. I have looked at popups module and ActiveEdit (which is abandoned now and 6.x branch is only for demo purposes) I dont find popups as the best user interface for my needs. I am looking for any pointers that would help me achieve this. I have a simple need of loading node edit form via AJAX. A code snippet to achieve that would be perfect.
