Amazon FPS Marketplace
Hi everyone,
I'm working on a marketplace site, which I'm currently using drupal 5, Ubercart 1, and UC marketplace for. I think that Amazon FPS marketplace might be a better way to go than the UC marketplace method of using paypal masspay to pay sellers.
I've never hired a programmer and don't know what kind of scope this project would be, so I would appreciate it if anyone could give some idea of what it might cost and what might be involved (and if you'd like to throw your hat in the ring, even better). My budget would be somewhat limited, so my inclination is to say something in the $500 range, but if this is way out of line, please let me know. If it were much more I'd probably go ahead with UC marketplace to prove the concept and consider this project in the future.
I would be perfectly open to this being integrated into ubercart and/or ubercart marketplace, or as a stand alone module. As I see it my requirements would be:
1) The seller needs to be able to enter their amazon payments info in the profile edit page (where password, etc is located).
2) The payment link on the product page has to be linked to authors amazon info
3) The payment link has to be connected to a price input of some sort on the product page
4) There has to be file download support, so when a buyer pays for the product through amazon they have to be allowed access to files the seller uploaded.
5) Ideally I'd like to be able to assign different commission rates to (a) different product types (ie two product content-types), and (b) maybe even different roles
As I said, I'm not opposed to using ubercart, but I don't see it as being necessary since I don't expect people to purchase more than one product (and therefore a cart would not really be necessary), so whatever method would be easier would be fine with me. I think in some ways it would be easier not to use UC marketplace since there doesn't have to be the same tracking system of how much the seller is owed since Amazon would take over this functionality.
When it comes down to it this would just be users creating nodes (product pages) with a link (the payment link) customized based on information contained in the author's profile, and the ability for amazon payments to then inform the site to allow access to files.
If the decision were to do this without ubercart marketplace I'd have to consider if it would be worthwhile porting my site to drupal 6 (since marketplace is why I'm using 5), so thoughts on if either 5 or 6 would be easier for the proposed module would be appreciated
One more consideration is that I would like to be able to offer hard copy versions of the downloads at some point, so if there is any way to leave open the option eventually creating code to send (or allow access to) the files to a 3rd (or would that be 4th) party vendor after an additional payment has been made to them that would be excellent.
