Steps to build the problem
- Create a new content type with CCK, and add a field named Videos using Embedded Video.
- Configure the Videos field, and uncheck "Store remote thumbnails for this field", and "Allow custom thumbnails for this field" (actually, I unchecked every checkbox under the "Embedded Custom Thumbnails" fieldset)
- Use a normal authenticated user to create the content
For the Videos field, there is the "New Upload" option for the user to upload a custom thumbnail, although the options are set to off. I would expect no such "New Upload" option to be available. I tried using that user to upload, and the picture file was really uploaded.
Is this working as expected? Or I have highlighted a probable bug here?
Can anyone enlighten me on this?

I am having the same problem too, as seen to have many here.. Would be great to resolve this since the image thumb module allows to get imagecache presets in views for emfield thumbs.

This fixes it for me, but I'm not sure if it has any unintended side-effects.
