Description

Can Sheetnode pull in fields from other nodes (other than Sheetnode nodes)? I am keen to provide some kind of reporting against data stored in another content type (cck), and thought it would be nice to set some formulae in a Sheetnode spreadsheet that references data from another set of nodes (say, limited by a date range based on a date field in the other set of nodes), bring that data in and process it to provide reports - so that each Sheetnode node would be a predefined report that a user just browsed to and perhaps hit refresh to get an updated report....

Look at QUICK HOWTO: SPREADSHEET VIEW on the module page. Would that work for you?

Stupid me, completely got the wrong end of the stick and envisaged the module as implementing its own content type which it could then draw data out of for the spreadsheet... but in fact it is just a view that can draw data from anywhere .... correct?

1) can you just put a "formula" in a cell that refers to fields in other nodes?

2) I guess one of the main goals of reporting would be to chart the results ... I note that you have charts on the roadmap... any thoughts on timeline for those?

thanks!!

The sheetnode module does both:
1. Implement a new content type that hosts spreadsheets
2. Provide a Views style that displays data from other nodes as a spreadsheet
In your case, the second feature might be what you need.

> 1) can you just put a "formula" in a cell that refers to fields in other nodes?

Yes you can. You can either put formulas that refer to all the rows (e.g. SUM "amount" fields in all rows), or formulas on each row (e.g. YEAR of "date" field). The syntax for each option is described when you open the Spreadsheet style settings.

No timeline yet. But the module is open for sponsorship, if you *need* that feature in a specific timeframe.
