how to add unique lightbox2 slideshows to node

Issue Summary

Hello, I am looking for guidance on how to best approach the following.

I would like to give the ability for a non-technical user to easily add a lightbox2 slideshow to a page node which is triggered by a single thumbnail. I was able to easily give them the ability to add a single inline image which worked with lighbox2, but cannot wrap my head around how to approach this for a slideshow launched from a single thumbnail. I am new to drupal, so any guidance to get me pointed in the right direction is certainly appreciated.

I attached a screenshot of how this might look. I also outlined the regions I have available (this was built off a zen sub theme). Should this be done inline with the WYSIWYG, a block, or is there something simple I am missing? Please let me know if there is a more appropriate place to post this as this is my first time logging an issue.
