Before I ask my question please only respond if you a have patience for people who know next to nothing. Thanks.

I am unable to pass the Database Configuration page when trying to install acquia drupal. I have tried several different database names, user names, and passwords but I keep recieving this error messege:

"Failed to connect to your MySQL database server. MySQL reports the following message: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2).

* Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
* Are you sure that you have typed the correct database hostname?
* Are you sure that the database server is running?"

My guess is that I either don't know what exactly they want typed into those fields or I have not "granted" something somewhere. (not that I really know what that means)

Could anyone help me with step by step instructions of where to find the exact information the database configuration requires. And also if there is some "grant" that I need to turn on could you also please help me with step by step instructions for that. Thank you so much!

Refer to your hosting... In GoDaddy Control Panel, there should be a place or an option to view the Database connection strings and ports.

The username is usually something_something.
The database hostname is also usually something_something.

Check your database settings to make sure they're correct. You can find your settings by following the steps in this article - http://help.godaddy.com/article/33
