Working, but not with drupal progress bar

i'm using this module (thanks much, it's great) on my site and i want the drupal progress bar to display. instead i just get a straight percentage update (30%, 50%, etc). do i need to install a jquery module add on or anything to make this work? i've got 'use default drupal progress bar' checked in the settings.
