URL Filter doesn't work easily

guitarma - October 26, 2009 - 03:40

I'm using Drupal 6.14. In all of my Input Format configurations, I have checked: HTML Corrector, HTML Filter, Inline Images, URL Filter.
For both Filtered HTML and Full HTML, URL Filter is the first in the arrangement.

Yet, the URL's and email addresses I've posted within several of my content types are still not hyperlinked. They show up, they just don't link anywhere. I am using BUEditor for Pages and Stories, so users can use the link icon to make the links.

But I have several custom content types, with website and email fields and they don't turn into hyperlinks when published.

I have read so many other forum topics, many saying to use Web Links, which I uploaded and enabled but nothing links.

If checking "URL Filter Turns web and e-mail addresses into clickable links" doesn't work on its own, why is it there? Why do we have to use another module to get a core module to work?

I cannot find a definitive answer on how this works or even the fact that it doesn't work. Any help you can give would really be appreciated. Some days I love Drupal more than the sun. All the other days, not so much. hahaha

Check your theme & page source.

I've never had a problem with the filters for links, but off the top of my head - have you tried a different theme to see if the links show up there? Maybe firebug would help. Also, does the page source reveal anything about how the links are formed?

If these don't help, can you give a link to the site?

Have not tried those...

But I can't change the theme as it's a live site. And I'm not sure what to look for in the page source.

Thanks for your help, Sean!

Other links on the site work

Other links on the site work fine, so it must be caused by the field you are using. If you edit the content type, configure field-field-web and set Text processing to Filtered text does that work?

You could also try the CCK link module

That's It!!!

Yep, it was the text processing... changed it to Filter Text and voila!! Thank you so much!!!
