I have got a lot more time to do more coding in the e-commerce module, so here is a start of the 4.7 version of the payment.module

I need a lot more to do on it, but it's a start and I would like some feedback on it.

The payment module was converted to 4.7 3 or 4 months ago. We are just about ready to release 4.7.
