Drush seems to be (Drupal) version neutral, for all versions....
I know what Drush do, but I never use it... Does it make sense to backport this feature to 5.x-2.x?

claudiu.cristea, yes, while this is very basic Drush support there is great promise for excellent tools in the future, and even what is here is quite useful. So it'd be a good backport.
