I am highly interested in a backport to Drupal 5!
I already tested the arthemia theme under Drupal 5 and it almost works! The primary links and the block regions seem not to work.
Is there a chance to get a backport to Drupal 5?
Anybody else interested in that?

Not officially, no.
Drupal 7 will be released within a few short months at which point Drupal 5 will no longer get updates or be supported as a whole, so I see it as bad practice starting development on drupal 5 at this time.
