updates.drupal.org blocking me?

For the last number of weeks I haven't been able to fetch updates either through cron or manually. Having searched this website and trying most of the tips, its still not working. As far as I can tell, the port is open at my hosting server, not sure how to check about httpd.
I am currently running 6.14, however this is a new installation and I had before been running 6.x's. I notice that many people have said there were several bugs in the older versions that could perhaps end up in being blacklisted, so would it be possible to check my website's IP, please?
