Description
Presently, admin_menu seems to globally remove the 'Administer' menu item, but only roles with the access administration menu permission can use the admin_menu. The others, who might still have access to some branches under admin, are left out in the cold.

I still have an Administer navigation menu item with 6.x-1.5.

I have the same issue. I noticed that a new menu has been created called "Administration menu". If I give the correct roles access to it and add the block, I can see the menu (although it's not under my username any more but a separate menu).

@Scott M. Sanders: Lucky you! :-) Wouldn't it be nice to have a list of differences between 1.x and 3.x on the front page?
@tchurch: Ah, yes, indeed! Thank you for the hint. However, this unwieldy block is no replacement for the discreet expandable 'Administration' menu item that used to be in the Navigation menu.
I tried creating such an item in the Navigation menu, leading to 'admin', but after rebuilding menus, it ended up in the Administration menu instead. This is too bad, because if it had stayed, then I could have limited the Administration block to the admin theme and gotten back what I had before installing Administration menu 3.0.
Apparently, there's some mechanism that "knows what's good for me." I really, really hate it, when software patronizes me!!!
Please restore the 'Administer' menu item in the Navigation menu. It serves a purpose even after installing this module, and those who don't want it, can easily disable it. And also restore the admin page. It, too, has a purpose, especially for newbie admins.

I agree. I wish to leave the administer menu and its children intact
#5
Was anyone able to restore that menu after installing the module?

I have the same issue. I tried to allow users to administer the Taxonomy module, which is under Administer ->Content Management -> Taxonomy.
But without access administration pages, they have to know the page or I create a duplicate role specific menu as mentioned above.
