Extra comma kills site

Hi,
While editing the css selector rule I left an extra comma after deleting a condition. I guess what this must have done is applied dynamic rendering to all text on the site including php code It made such a mess I couldnt see any page well enough to make the correction.
In the end i had to log into my database and make a direct change to the rule there inorder to see my site again.
Any way you can put in a fail safe to stop such future slip ups?
