FCKEditor interface disappears when IMCE is enabled

Hi. I am having a strange symptom. When I integrate IMCE into FCKEditor, by adding the IMCE button into the FCK profile in my Wysiwyg configuration option, it makes the FCK interface disappear and turn into a narrow strip across the top of the page editing windows. There is a tiny black arrow on the left of the strip that seems like it's supposed to toggle the interface, but it doesn't work. Anyone have similar problems?
Keep in mind, I am a real newbie.
