Period "." in "Strings to Remove" Causes Pathauto to leave out Slashes in URL

Issue Summary

Adding a period character in the "Strings to Remove" list results in URLs without slashes when [menu-path-raw] is used.

You should use the punctionation settings, not the strings to remove textarea for this.
