Document Management Capabilities in Drupal
rgovil - October 30, 2009 - 19:11
Hi
I am trying to evaluate Drupal for my client. I liked the overall functionality of Drupal. But I think Drupal lacks basic Document Management capabilities.
What I need to know is how to manage documents and images including versioning, transformation for multiple renditions.
Do I need to use another OS product or a modules? Can anyone recommend a solution here?
Thanks in advance
Ravi

drupal module or other application
Hello,
I have a similar projet. I need to use a document management system which can also use validation workflows on these documents.
I have 3 main choices:
Alfresco
Nuxeo
Drupal
I would like to use Drupal as it is faster, and in PHP, but I couldn't find the right module for the DMS part:
http://drupal.org/node/619238
=> If i'm using the alfresco module as you are suggesting, I would have to have Alfresco installed, I will no longer need Drupal
And I have a problem with the existing DMS modules:
ex: http://groups.drupal.org/node/3522
If i'm using a node by document, everything is OK for me, but my users will have to set the node position. This way, they'll do it wrong.
The other mean would be to have one node = one directory but all specific informations ( comments, other files related... ) about files will be messed: Is there a module able to solve this? Is it possible to develop it? ( I'm a new drupal user )
Thank you
G
