Can/Should this module be used in conjunction with the Osmobi module?
Thanks

twom commentedHi,
We will try to make the relation with osmobi a bit clearer, but in short:
- The device detection, theme switching and redirection functionality are shared between both. This means that you have to disable redirection and theme switching in the mobile tools module is you use Osmobi.
- Mobile roles is unique to mobile tools, so this is complementary (and actually it can give you better flexibility)
If you use and configure both modules the module that has highest priority will be in charge of device detection, and the module with the lowest priority will decide on which theme switch there will be (but it does not make sense to do that).
I would like to get your feedback if configuration worked well. I will write more documentation and for future versions of the module I can add better support to detect if both modules are enabled.
Tom

eyecon-1 commentedThanks. My last attempt with Mobify was a complete bust. I'll give this a go by Sunday.

eyecon-1 commentedBTW, just so you are aware of it, Siruna's SMTP pointer is FUBAR*. Postfix does a cross check by default and I could not get email from them for account verification. I had to use gmail (which is not as fussy). I tried to tell them how to fix the DNS and received a mystifying response.
*The IP (reverse pointer) resolves to a domain with IN-ARPA appended. The actual MX resolves to a different IP.
========
Bottom line to all this gibberish is that some users with anti-spam configurations may have a problem communicating.

eyecon-1 commentedOK, I mobilized the site with the Osmobi client and theme. Pretty easy. Great result.
Now, if I activate the Mobile Tools module, presumably it will display the desktop/mobile links should a handheld device not redirect automatically. Correct? I can also get better control of the front page with is panels display?
The MT module requires the mobile site URL. I have no idea what that is using the osmobi service. It is not in any of the docs.
Thanks.

twom commentedHi,
First of all, thank you for the feedback on the mail setup. We are aware of this current limitation due to the location of our servers.
So, after using osmobi, you can install Mobile Tools but you will not be able to use the display block to show the mobile and desktop url.
However, this is one of the features we will add soon to osmobi.
Because of the fact that the Osmobi module does not yet implement cookies to detect the choice of the user (e.g. mobile user who wants to go the desktop site) displaying a message does not make sence: the mobile user get's ALWAYS directed to the mobile site. But as I said, this will improve in a next update.
So if you install mobile tools and disable the theme swithing, redirection and the notification block, you can still use the panels plugin and the mobile roles.
So this way you get the best of both worlds!
If you think this works great for you, I could write some additional documentation about this 'dual usage'
Thanks!
Tom
ps: the mobile url that osmobi sets is an internal osmobi url that is not intended to be communicated to your users. However, the premium version of Osmobi allows for settings your own mobile url to point to the mobile site.
