Description
I am attempting to get Drush running on Windows XP and I am confused with contradictory installation information. On page:
http://cvs.drupal.org/viewvc/drupal/contributions/modules/drush/README.txt?view=markup
the instructions are to install the Drush directory outside the Drupal installation. But on page:
http://drupal.org/node/330023
the instructions are to put this directory in a path such as:
C:\path_to_my\drupal6\sites\all\modules\drush\
which would put it inside the Drupal installation where non core modules go. There are also instructions to enable the Drush module as if it were to be inside the Drupal installation. Where should this directory go?

#1
the readme is more up to date than that issue from 2008
#2
Are any of the external applications linked to in that issue of 2008 still needed for Windows XP?
