I am launching a photo site and so this would be perfect if users can add arbitrary tags to content, my only concern is spam/profanity. i was wondering if there's any kind of profanity filter or anything.

valderama commentedhi!
as the user has to be logged in to tag a node, its pretty spam secure.
best,

entrigan commentedYa, basically this module is not designed for anonymous tagging, and moreover there is no filter for profanity. Unless someone is interested in integrating com tags with a profanity filter module, I think this is going to be shelved indefinately.

chaps2 commentedSee #644640: quick form submit doesn't node save which can add a tag approval step to the tagging workflow. It's a patch at the moment but I plan to commit it once 1.x is stable.

chaps2 commentedLast post was supposed to point to #306916: Make CT work with/like Unitag. Unitag integration is in! What's more the latest release of Unitag includes blacklisting which is effectively a profanity filter. It's currently limited as described here - #1095984: Term blacklist - mass insert of terms. Perhaps it should ship with the contents of Roger's Profanisaurus pre-loaded. Just a thought.
