Description

forcing visitors to create user accounts JUST to subscribe to content notifications is a tall request to ask of casual site visitors.

The permissions for the 'notifications_tags module' lead me to believe that anonymous users should be able to subscribe to notifications if you enable the 'anonymous user' to do so....but when the anon user goes to a node that has the ability to subscribe to, it does give them the option to subscribe to it but there is no field to allow them to add their email address.

Is it possible to add this? It'd be even better if by simply having a field that they enter their email address, that would create a new user account and automatically create their user name, generate a random password and email them their login info.

Is any or all of this possible? I'd be happy if it's as simple as using their email address (with no user account created)...and if that form could support a mollom/CAPTCHA form to reduce spammers, that'd be ideal.

See #233830: UI for anonymous subscriptions.
