Just curious if what the relationship is between this theme and http://drupal.org/project/yui-framework

Obviously, this has a working version for D6, but not sure if they approach things differently. Also, it might make sense to point to it in the docs as a related project.

No relation. That project appears dead, at least to me. No releases, no updates.
