Filter criteria for Upcoming Block causes error

When adding a filter to the Upcoming Events block I add the Date:Date (Node) Filter with an operator of "is greater than or equal to" and put "now" in the Date Default field. Upon saving the view I get a very long error (attached)
Left as default the view works, however events from the past are visible in the view.
Not sure if this a bug or an error on my part. Help appreciated.

Found my problem, the granularity for the Argument was set to Year rather than Month.
After changing that, only dates in the future are displayed in the upcoming events block.
