How? Restricting Node Access Based one 1 Controlled Vocabulary?

Fidelis - May 7, 2006 - 06:48

I have just completed my first ever Drupal installation (using version 4.7), and aside from a multi-site question, I just have one question:

  • If I have created a Controlled Vocabulary "Audience" with terms like "All", "Members", "Contributors" and "Executive", and I have roles corresponding to the last three terms, is their a simply way to restrict read access based on the assigned term? Should I consider an alternative method?

I am only somewhat aware that there are different ways to implement access control with different modules; but being a newbie to Drupal, I thought I could ask advice here...

Thanks!

Take a look at the taxonomy

Take a look at the taxonomy access control module. It should get the job done nicely. Failing that, check out TAC lite module, or simple access.

Generally, mixing access control modules is not recommended, so I would try these modules one at a time to see how they work. There is some work being done (ie, the node access arbitrator module), but that code is still pretty new.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Bill

Thanks Bill,

I'll try it soon and report back here if it works and how I'm using it.

Merci encore -

patrick
