This makes the module very hard to find especially for sites with many module groups. It would be better if there was no group.

cyu commentedWhen I first created the module I thought about seeing if http://drupal.org/project/util would accept it as a patch, and even though I ended up making a separate contrib I still think it fits in with that module group.

jdwfly commentedFor such a good module its too bad you think that. I don't know if you've checked but very few people actually use the util module ~1100. Thats less than 0.6% of everyone using Drupal. This module is very good and I can see it being used a lot more in the future especially with Drupal 7, but putting it in a module group that is, for the majority of Drupal users, unknown, is not a good decision in my opinion. Especially since your module does not have any ties to the util module except for the fact that you know it started as a patch.
For new users, which you will hopefully have a lot more soon, this is very counter-intuitive. You might want to think about how it looks to someone if they have no idea about the util module (Nearly 99.4% of Drupal sites don't use it, my sites are included in that). It doesn't make any sense to a new user to find you module under the Util group.
This is module is great (I am using it on all my sites) except for this one flaw.

cyu commentedI think the "Administration" group might be the most sensible place for this module. I'll make that change along with the next code update.

cyu commentedMoved to Administration in D7.
jdwfly commentedNo chance of a backport to d6?
cyu commentedWith the point of this change being to avoid confusion, I think a backport to D6 at this stage would be counterproductive.
