Issue Summary
We're doing a pay-for-downloads site, and we'd love to be able to host the files on our amazon s3 account. ubercart has made everything super-easy with our store, but I'd love to see this functionality added. I know there are a couple of decent drupal modules that interact w/ s3, especially creeper: http://drupal.org/project/creeper
and this one: http://drupal.org/project/amazon_s3
Maybe tweaking ubercart's "product features" to have the ability to interact w/ these modules is the route to take? Whatever the case, it would be an incredibly rad feature to have!
thanks,

Here's an issue on the ubercart site that has more details on this. http://www.ubercart.org/contrib/2196
I would also like to see this implemented ASAP.

Concerning the previous link:
I'm concerned because it looks like it is essentially a hack of one of the core modules. I'd like to either see it added to the real core module or I'd like to see it become a real quality separate module.
Am I wrong?

I personally haven't looked into it because I'm only interested in Ubercart 2.0 with Drupal 6 and haven't had time to work on porting it myself.

I am offering a $100 bounty for this functionality. I currently run a Drupal site where I sell a lot of video downloads and I have been using a 3rd party program called Brad Sucks Digital Download Store (http://code.google.com/p/brad-sucks-digital-download-store/)to manage the process. Although that system works well I don't have it integrated with Drupal. I would prefer to have a system that integrates tightly with my website.

I think it would be really cool if this was implemented using http://drupal.org/project/storage_api .
It already supports Amazon S3 as well as a number of other storage engines. What do you think?

Hey guys, I'm currently working on trying to integrate Amazon S3 support for Ubercart digital download purchases. It seems others are also interested in this. Let's get this done! I am currently researching the options and trying to choose the best one. I'll post my progress here.

I'm not sure how this whole bounty thing works, but I'm up for putting up some $ to get a working Drupal/Ubercart solution for 2.0 that works like the files modules or with the files module.

Quint, I am working on a Drupal 6.0/Ubercart 2.0 solution as we speak to allow selling of S3 files through Ubercart. It will be a companion module to uc_files. Anyone interested in financially supporting my development please send me a pm. Thanks!

Thought I'd point this brand new module out, also:
http://drupal.org/project/uc_cloudfront
Maybe worthwhile to combine them?

For everybody following this thread check out the new module page posted for this. You can download a development version that can be used on production sites here http://www.ubercart.org/contrib/2196. This should soon be up on the module page. Please report any bugs you come across.

Post any bugs, feature requests, etc. in the issue queue there.
