When I try to activate the module from the administer modules page, I get this: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '=', expecting ')' in /users/web/maba/web/sites/all/modules/site_verify/site_verify.install on line 101
I have no idea how to deal with this. Any advice?

Are you using PHP 5.3 by any chance (that kind of info is useful to know)?

sorry, being a total noob here, but how do I check which version of php I'm on? do I ask my web host?

The page at admin/reports/status should give you your PHP version.
