Hi there and good evening.
Everything was working fine until ...
1. i re-indexed my sidte and updated modules,
2. 2a)cck-6.x-2.6, 2b) services and 2c) views-6.x-2.7.
What is the problem?
1. lost my frontpage http://www.hellaswebnews.com/frontpage
2. nodes now require (must have) ?q= in order to open up
ie
http://www.hellaswebnews.com/node/592 does not take me anywhere
while
http://www.hellaswebnews.com/?q=node/592 works fine.
3. Cannot login any longer
4. none of the menus/blocks would work.
example
http://www.hellaswebnews.com/admin/settings/performance does not take me anywhere
while
http://www.hellaswebnews.com/?q=admin/settings/performance would work fine.
It seems to me something has happened and the ?q= is a must.
Is this problem fixable?
As I cannot work on any articles, or people who would try to reach my articles, (using of course url without the ?q=) won't be able to do so, I have rated this issue as critical.
Also, I did not know who I need to assign this so i left it blank.
Could you provide me with some help/direction pls?

dublin drupaller commentedthis doesn't sound like it's related to the front page module. It sounds like clean urls have been disabled, double check your SITE CONFIGURATION settings and make sure the .htaccess file in the root folder is still intact.
incidentally..to login just go to http://www.hellaswebnews.com/?q=user

hellaswebnews commentedthank you fro your prompt response.
however,
I do have the clean url enabled and the .htaccess is in the root directory, but still no go :(
any other suggestions?
kind regards, hellaswebnews.

hellaswebnews commentedhi again
i was able to bring my site up to a respectable level.
but the damage is still remains.
1. I cannot see views-6.x-2.7 (or the previous version, i tried to roll back) on my available updates/module in whatsoever. As a result of this I cannot set up Calendar (which I had prior to my original problem, issue #1 above).
2. I was able to turn Clean URLs off. (?q= now appears in all sites urls). This is made it a little easier to work with. Two issues that i have are
2.1 Other people already have links of my site in the format http://www.hellaswebnews.com/node/XXX as you understand these links do not work any longer and take visitors to "The webpage cannot be found. DNS error occurred. Server cannot be found. The link may be broken."
2.2 When i try NOW to enable option CLEAN URLs .... the drupal response is ... Your system configuration does not currently support this feature.
Could someone provide me with some kind of direction in order to get my site back to its prior to update condition?
kind regards, hellaswebnews.
