OG module turns Forum content type into an OG content type

This seems totally crazy, but every time I turn on the organic group module, it turns the forum content type into a group creation content type. At first I thought it was the CCK template doing it, but even with that off the Forum Topic content type wants a group mission statement. I looked thought the issues and didnt see anything like this so I fear It might just be my crazy install going haywire. Is there a way to somehow keep og module on and revert/reset the forum content type? Thanks a lot for any suggestions and ill post if I come up with one on my own for future people with this issue.
