Just an idea: Wouldn't it make sense for the api-search-block to offer additional filters (like 'modules' to search in etc.)?
What do you think? I'll could use that sometimes - does it have any broader appeal to others?
Or would one better implement that in a generic effort to integrate api.module with views?

This is kinda vague. In general, I want to keep things simple. http://drupal.org/node/84207 may be the issue to add for *specific* indexes and facets that would help users.
