Proper way to update a How To article?

To Edit or to Append? That is the question.

I authored, How to Track Volunteer Hours and filed it under Documentation >How to >Site Recipes.

I would like to update the content for Drupal 6; plus, I have learned more about Drupal since then and know a better way of doing things.

Is it appropriate to Edit the current node or should I append the updated info as a Reply?
