My permissions include only the following:
manage own subscription (enabled for authenticated users)
subscribe to content type (enabled for authenticated users)

no "maintain" permissions, so the Subscriptions tab does not show up in profile,
however authenticated users can still access directly the following page:

user/uid/notifications/subscriptions

The permission for that page is 'manage own subscriptions'.

I know both features / permissions can be messy. However this one is intended to be granted (or not) on top of 'maintain own subscriptions'
