this is extremely frustrating because it should be sooo easy. i have tried uploading themes and modules to their appropriate directories on my linux server through ssh. themes to sites/all/themes and modules to sites/all/modules. I even tried to put them where the core themes are and still nothing. i have searched hard through the forums, and found a lot of people that have the same problem. I still can not find the answer anywhere. Please help!! I just don't understand. I have tried refreshing the cash. trying not to throw my laptop

thanks for the quick reply
this is the admin user, or do you mean the permissions setting for the folders sites/all/themes and sites/all/modules? if it is the files, do you know what they need to be set at?
Silly question, did you
Silly question, did you unpack the files?
yep
sure did
By permission I actually
By permission I actually meant, your files of modules and themes on your server. Try changing one of the module to 777(including every files inside) and check if that works..
make sure that .info files
make sure that .info files are properly uploaded for each module or theme. shud be modulename.info or themename.info
still not working
i ran a
chmod 777 themes/then achmod 777 modules/then refreshed the cache. Still nothing. I am really at a loss. I'm still confused. and the info files seem to be correct as well.any more ideas guys?
bump
hello all, I just wanted to give this thread a little bump. Hopefully someone will see it and have an idea what my problem is. Thanks a bunch
fckeditor not showing up.
I am following "learnbythedrop.com" video #4 installing modules. I have successfully installed a few modules but fckeditor does not show up. I have re-watched the video many times....
I have downloaded/installed fckeditor 6.x-1.4 and put it in the appropriate folder. (remember other modules are working) I have copied and pasted the 2.6.5 FCTeditor folder into the fckeditor folder which lies in 6.x-1.4
notes: the fckeditor 6.x-1.4 file is 644kb and the
2.6.5 FCFeditor is only 471kb THIS concerns me because on the version in the video is over 3 MB
What am I missing here?

Same problem
I am having the exact same problem here guys. I just can't figure out what to do. All other modules are showing, except the FCK editor. >(
make sure that fckeditor goes
make sure that fckeditor goes into sites/all/libraries and not /modules. you will need the wysiwyg module to install fck.
