Viablility and / or suggestions for a new Drupal tutorial site?
I wanted to ask the community about the viability of a new site that would showcase drupal tutorials (from users/members, other sites and myself).. From installation to advanced usage covering all aspects (or popular areas). I know that there are many helpful articles, videos, irc channels, etc; that already span this broad range of content, but I have noticed (as an upper level novice myself) that it seems to be hard to find, confusing and an overall assault on the senses! By this I mean that all the tutorials that I find seem to be either a one-to-two page section on an obscure site somewhere, or they are categorized in such a way (on drupal itself, and elsewhere) that it seems hard to decipher what is what and "what a person should do when" if that makes sense?
As a year and half member here at drupal, I have come to understand a bit more of the content arrangement, but still I feel (imho) that there seems to be a lacking of structural arrangement, -or maybe there is too much?
Topics ranging from drupal 4-7 releases, topics that are closed or open, posts that are left un-answered, relative posts, deprecated, un-maintained modules... and on and on. Now that I have said this, please understand that I am in no way blaming, de-valuing, or otherwise hacking at Drupal and its community, If it were not for drupal... where would I be? -still kicking and screaming at a paid or modified script of some type im sure!
Also- Kudos to those few great sites (you know who you are!) whom have helped me on my way to better understanding drupal and its contrib modules.
What my overall attempt with a tutorials site would be:
-There could be several more additions to this list but I think you might know where Im going with this...
I have a small series of questions that will help (me):
1. Should there be another tutorials site?
2. Would you want to be involved?
3. What more should be implemented on a site such as this?
4. How should this site be structured? (wiki style or...)
5. Would this be beneficial to the Drupal community?
There are many questions and topics that I could cover, but again, I would like to get a better feel for what would and would not work on a site such as this, or if it should even be.
So... I figure i'll hash this out on a thread here, and if all goes together well then I may go ahead with the site with input from all of whom are interested.
-What do you think?
