downloading All-Versions-HEAD seems to be including changes that are meant for 7.x. is this just a temporary thing because it's in progress, or should we be using something else to pick up fixes for use with 6.x now? thanks.

The intent is that every version of drush works for all of drupal5, drupal6, drupal7. so HEAD should be compatible with all 3. if not, pease file a bug.
