There seems to be an issue where if a user is denied permission to change permissions he is still shown the permissions options in the create/edit content area. If the denied user attempts to change the permissions, no error is produced, and instead the changes are "saved" but the permissions changes are ignored - which i guess it how it should operate. However, either the permissions display should be changed to some type of read only display - like changing the check boxes to "X" or "-" ... otherwise the user should've been shown the permissions options at all. This is an issue for both creating content and for editing it.

Sounds like this might be a duplicate of http://drupal.org/node/50728. You could try applying the patch attached to that issue to see if it helps.

Tidying up old issues. Focus now is on Drupal 5 version of the module. If there is still demand for this to be resolved and it gets resumbitted then I'll look into it, however this appears to be resolved in more recent versions.
