$500 Dollar Bounty - Organic Groups Custom Module Development

ablemike - November 9, 2009 - 17:12

We have a site that needs a custom module and some theme integration.

We are using organic groups and we would like the user to be able to set a preference to receive notifications when the group has an update. EG. When another user posts to the group, if the user has set the preference to receive notifications, they will receive an email notification. This module needs to provide a theme function or menu item that will respond via AJAX/AHAH and allow us
to place this link in various places of the site.

This module will also need to set this preference for new users as they come on to the system to default to being on.

The user interaction desired as follows:

1. User logs in
2. User browses to their groups page. This is a page that contains teasers of all groups they are a part of.
3. User is presented a link on the "My Groups" page. This link is an AJAX / AHAH link to turn notifications on or off.
4. User clicks this link
5. Module toggles the preference
6. Link text on group page is updated on the fly

It is important to note that this module takes into account that a user might subscribe to "Group 1" but not "Group 2", therefore only getting email updates on the group they have subscribed to

We have begun development on a module and that code can be picked up or scrapped.
The notifications will be sent out via Email using MIME mail.

Candidate requirements:
1. You must be able to run and develop the site in a local environment. No access to the staging server will be given.
2. You must be familiar with Git
3. You must have Ruby and Rubygems installed.

This bounty pays $500.00 USD for a solution to the issue if completed in the next 24 hours.

Interested candidates, please send an email to jobs@theablefew.com with your details and availability.
