post-commit hooks scripts to update site?

Hello everyone,
Just wondered if anyone imported portions of their site (themes,modules, the whole thing!) into an svn repository? I'd like to set up some post-commit scripts to handle updates (so the site is a client of the repository), and was wondering if anyone else has done this in drupal. Thanks!
