www.alphansoblake.com - Built this site for an artist. Uses panels 2 and views heavily. Image cache made lite work of water marks and adjusting image sizes from whatever format/size the original image was. Given the time savings from the use of image cache I will be rebuilding my Wife's site http://www.sharonfoxart.com in Drupal next week. This site is all hand coded PHP and is difficult to maintain. Instead of being able to use an imagecache preset I had to use gimp to resize and watermark - tedious stuff.

Not bad. What did you use for
Not bad.
What did you use for the flash gallery thing? It's pretty slick though I felt a little bored waiting for it to spin.
Your graphic design could use a lot of work. Check out www.designmeltdown.com for some examples of portfolio sites. Technically the site seems solid enough, but I can't understand why you use the ?q= urls on the homepage, then clean URLs on the linked pages. It'll cause chaos with sitemapping, search engines and analytics.
Consider unifying the look and layout of the main page with the deeper pages. The artist branding should be the same on all pages and clicking it should bring you back to the homepage. White boxes on some menus, no boxes on others looks a bit garish to me.
I agree...
The layout is quite messy...
