Navigating outside the Drupal folder

I'm new to Drupal.
My host provider (Doteasy) had instructions to install Drupal by creating a Drupal folder in my home directory and uploading all files to that folder.
I did so and it works fine but I have video files in folders that are in the home directory.
So now I need to be able to navigate outside of the drupal folder to go to the folders that hold all my video files.
Can someone tell me how this is done?

What about the files folder
Drupal has a place to store files: /sites/default/files (within the drupal folder). Is there any way you can move your video files and folders into the default location? I think you will have a lot easier time in the long run if you try it the drupal way in the beginning.
