Asset Manager

My department is sponsoring my time to develop an Asset Manager plugin for Drupal this summer. I plan to integrate issue tracking and license management, possibly using existing modules for some functionality.
I've seen interest in the forums for such a system. Is anyone interested in working with me to develop it?

An Asset Manager would be a
An Asset Manager would be a great contribition to drupal which a lot of people could use. :)
Ah!
Well we've already got one... sorta.
It needs cleaning up before i'm ready to submit it back, but essentially it works.
Allows you to
* specify a status (stock, in service, under repair etc)
* categorize items
* parent/child relationships IE - Computer + Hardware Card etc.
We also got it rigged-up to BIND (dns) to use hardware names to populate DNS zone files and stuff :)
If you're interested, check out the ERM project - haven't submitted to CVS yet, but happy to mail it to ya if you want to have a nose.

That's be great to see - can you mail me? drupal /at/ usology // com
Sounds cool - what do you mean with license management?
Hi,
the idea sounds good, but I'm more interested in hearing about what you mean by license management. I'm developing a contract management module for drupal and if am naturally interested in anything to do with this - anything that spares double work is good :-)
Anyhow, do you mean to have a timeline/lifecycle function for licenses -> track effective dates, termination dates, renewal obligations/deadlines, survival periods, confidentiality obligations, rights/obligations, partner management, affiliate management, full-text searching with stemming, etc. If so, we should hook up so nobody needs to do work which is already done...
