imho this is a complete bug in terms of UI. Poormanscron's settings are hard to find and I always have to waste time hunting for them.

Poormanscron should either have:
1. Its own menu listing under Site Configuration
-or-
2. some text on the modules page that says where the settings are (or better yet a link to Site Information where the settings actually live).

I personally prefer #1.

FYI the actual location of settings for poormanscron is in Site Information (i.e Site configuration › Site information).

You can file a bug for D7 then, because that's exactly where this setting is there too. And D7 has had a lot more usability eyes on it. This is just one of those things you just have to get used to getting moved around once and that's it.

Thx Dave for your reply and your many contributions to this project.

I don't want to seem ungrateful and it's not fair of me to single poormanscron out on this issue. In fact the UI issue we are discussing here is quite common and exists with many modules - not just poormanscron.

Unfortunately it's exactly the settings you do rarely that if their location is an exception to the most common practice (i.e. have own settings page under admin/settings) and/or not documented in a user friendly place (i.e no admin help files) ... they are the hardest to find and hardest to remember - strongly contributing to reduced usability.

Multiply this problem by many modules and it gets out of hand. I'll have to keep better notes on my own.

In any case, you are right - I will forward my future UI grievances on this matter with the D7UX folks.

If anyone is interested in seeing some of the UI ideas regarding modules for D7 from D7UX you can go here:
http://www.d7ux.org/category/projectframework/modules/

Looks like in the modules page we might get a link directly to the settings for a particular module. That discussion is from 2009, so not sure if that will actually get into D7, but it would be a great improvement.

In the mean time the moduleinfo module provides some relief to easily find admin help pages and admin settings pages for the modules that provide those.

The 'link to settings on the module listing' did actually make it into D7, but is a new feature and won't be backported to D6. It would have been very useful in exactly this problem.
