I set up a client's website with Simplenews and Simplenews Statistics. They were previously using Constant Contact for their newsletters, where they had an open rate of 40%+. They have now sent two newsletters via Simplenews, and their reported open rate is around 15%.
So either something is causing subscribers to not get / open the newsletters, or else the open rate is being significantly under-reported by Simplenews Statistics. Any ideas which it would be, why, and how it can be improved?
Many thanks!
Simplenews 6.x-1.0-rc6
Simplenews Statistics 6.x-2.1
MimeMail 6.x-1.0-alpha1

Docc commentedIm pritty sure that statistics work like they supposed though. You might checkout mimemail, i remember it was having trouble sending to hotmail. So if you have a lot of hotmail subscribers.

hixster commentedI had a client report that a lot of mails to users from Drupal was getting marked as spam, particularly with yahoo and google accounts.

webavant commentedThat's so typical of Yahoo... not sure about Google. The problem with Yahoo! is that mails just start bouncing after a certain number of sends from the same host.

Exploratus commentedSo what would one recommend to ensure delivery of emails from simplenews? How does one get the results that mailchimp or constant contact gets in terms of ensuring the emails end up in the inbox.

webavant commentedYou want to make sure your mail server is following every possible protocol in preventing being blocked. Make sure your DNS has a valid SPF record, among other things.
