remote ads and javascript

My ads are working locally - ad blocks display my ads. But the snippet generated doesn't show anything when put on another site. However, if I extract straight html and removing the script and the document.write() call, and of course inserting the vars, then the ads show. Javascript is enabled on my browser. Any ideas? Does it matter what input format you are set to?
